Our Story
Great Educational Experiences (gee!) was one of the first learning center in Long Beach and the South Bay/Orange County. We created gee! in November 2009 to provide unique and exceptional learning opportunities for homeschooling families that lived in Long Beach and the surrounding areas. Back in 2009 when we first started homeschooling our daughter there didn't exist a place where homeschoolers could go and attend classes and find local friends. George would drive our daughter to wherever he could to pursue her interests. One day he decided to start an art class to pursue our daughter's interest in art. He went to the local ceramics shop with our daughter's portfolio and talked to the owner about renting space. What he found was that other homeschoolers were also interested in the class. So began our labor of love. One art class led to science, and science led to LEGO. Now nine years later we have many different classes and programs for homeschoolers but the reason for the classes has always remained the same and that is to provide "Great Educational Experiences" to our children. This mission continues today. It's about the quality of our teachers and classes and for this reason our class sizes remain small so that children will remain the focus and that they receive the attention they need to succeed. Our philosophy at Great Educational Experiences (gee!) is that we welcome all homeschooling styles and affiliations. We believe in being inclusive and tolerant of others that may have different beliefs or philosophies than our own. We have one common goal and that is to provide the best possible education for our children. George is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Life Coach and has worked in the helping professions for over twenty years. His work with children, adolescents, and families and his passion to inspire, empower, and support others along with his love of learning gave birth to gee! Cindy is an aerospace engineer with over twenty five years of service. She is a loving mother and has a passion for learning and a wealth of knowledge and resources for homeschooling. Cindy also sits on the board of directors for Homeschool Associatioin of California (HSC). Creating classes is a natural step to further our educational experiences for our homeschooled daughter. We hope that as you embark upon your homeschooling adventure that you make some new friends, rekindle old ones, and discover the many strengths and gifts your children hold within. We look forward to meeting you soon!
